I will show you how to get the best performance from your camera and produce high quality images. Images you will be proud of.

The key is removing the ‘mystery’ from the camera menus and optimizing your camera setup. Besides learning about White Balance, Color Space, the Histogram, contrast control, noise, compression, shooting B+W and digital filters (yes, they are built into the camera), you will also learn how to unlock the creative powers hiding in your camera. The goal is to “get it in the shoot” without the need for time-consuming computer work. All you need is a basic working knowledge of photography and your digital SLR.

First we meet for a ‘tech’ session to talk about camera setup and then we will go on a Photo Walk to explore the new found capabilities of your camera. During our walk there will be ‘mini-assignments’ along the way to stretch your creativity and allow you to put your camera through its' paces.
We end at a local restaurant to have some food and share our images. A great way to end the day.

The groups are kept small for maximum attention to each student. Only 2- 6 shooters per workshop. You can create your own group of your friends if you prefer. The cost is $85 per person. Contact me if you are interested. 310.924.9171

One Light Location Portraits

This workshop is for the photographer who wants to create dynamic portraits on location. Using only one light you will learn how to achieve high-end lighting results.

We will explore mixing natural light with strobe, creative color temperature control for balancing ambient with flash, proper white balance and using filters to enhance your lighting. We will use portable speedlight style flash units mounted in umbrella and softboxes to achieve professional level lighting results.

Emphasis is on lighting technique and how to control the 'play' of light to shape the mood, color and feel of your images.

By workshops' end each participant will walk away feeling confident in using these techniques to achieve the lighting effects they desire.

Limit 6 participants per workshop.
